MINNEAPOLIS—As another trip around the sun comes to a close, the Joneses want to wish everyone in their lives a hearty, happy holidays and a happy new year! They have been reflecting on how much they have to be thankful for this year, including extra doses of time with family and friends, a new fancy HVAC system, meal delivery boxes, and of course, baby Yoda.
The year 2019 saw the Joneses play wedding guests in Chicago; Muskegon, Michigan; Battle Creek, Michigan; and St. Paul, Minnesota. Abby and Christopher even had the honor of standing up in the wedding for Abby’s brother, Aaron and his now wife, Lisa in St. Joseph, Michigan. They enjoyed posing in the photo booths and cutting a rug on many different dance floors.
This year certainly came with its share of speed bumps. Abby was laid off from her job in May. As shocking as it initially was, it provided an opportunity for her to see what the Twin Cities design scene had to offer. Abby was able to design a poster for her local CreativeMornings chapter, freelanced for an early childhood literacy company called FastBridge Learning, and then for Target Corporate. All of this lead to her being hired as a senior graphic designer at Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, in the beginning of August. It was a crazy summer.
Christopher was very busy at work this year, launching a thermostat at CES, getting promoted, and then accepting a new role (at the same company). He now leads the on-device user interfaces across Resideo’s entire product portfolio. Christopher also continues to play kubb as often as possible and runs Kubb On (the place for all your kubb related news).
Even in the most challenging of times, Abby and Christopher had fun, traveled around the country, and grew in their careers. Home ownership continues to hold surprises around every corner, but overall their little house in South Minneapolis has been a great place to call home. This year has been a great year, and 2020 is a treasure in the making.
